Sustainable Living in the Heatons and The Savoy Join Forces for a Double Bill of Environmental Films This Month

By Sarah Kemp-Ellis on behalf of SLH

Following the successful screening of “2040” in September for the Great Big Green Week, Sustainable Living in the Heatons and The Savoy cinema have teamed up again to arrange another environmental film night on Wednesday 13 April.

The Savoy will kick off the double bill at 6pm with a new documentary from Madman Films called “River” (U), a film that explores how rivers shape our landscapes and experiences. Narrated by Willem Dafoe and with music from the Australian Chamber Orchestra, River promises to be a beautiful and powerful cinematic experience.

Next up is another shorter documentary with subtitles called “We The Power (12A) by Patagonia Films. This film follows the progress of local energy co-operatives in the UK, Germany and Spain in their efforts to stop relying on big businesses for energy. These groups are striving to make renewable energy a reality for everyone at the same time as building more financially stable communities –  no doubt something we would all like to see as we start to feel the impact of soaring energy prices this month.

The Savoy is offering entry to both films for the price of a single ticket – book yours now via the Savoy website. The volunteers at Sustainable Living in the Heatons look forward to seeing you at The Savoy on 13 April!
