Sustainable Living in the Heatons and the Savoy cinema have teamed up again for another environmental film screening this September. To mark this year’s Great Big Green Week, the Savoy will be showing a documentary called The Ants and the Grasshopper (12A) on Wednesday 28 September at 6pm.
This film follows Anita Chitaya as she travels from Malawi to California and on to the White House, meeting climate sceptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US, from the rural-urban divide, to schisms of race, class and gender, to the thinking that allows Americans to believe they live on a different planet from everyone else. It will take all her skill and experience to help the people she meets recognise, and free themselves from, a logic that is already destroying the Earth.
Join the SLH volunteers at the Savoy to enjoy this insightful analysis of both sides of the story. You can view the official trailer here. You can book tickets in advance via the Savoy website.
